How to get the bearing to a target
Mark the spotter at the coordinate given by the report. Start the bearing line from that marker and rotate the map line until its displayed bearing matches the report. The target lies somewhere along that line until a second measurement gives you an intersection.
- Confirm the report's origin before drawing anything.
- Use the reported bearing from the spotter, not from the turret.
- Extend the line far enough to meet a second bearing or range circle.
- Use reconnaissance or another report when two candidate intersections remain.
Bearing from the Nest versus bearing from a spotter
A common Mission 2 mistake is treating a spotter coordinate as the target or drawing the spotter's bearing from the IRON NEST. A bearing only makes sense from the origin named by the report, so keep the Nest position and each spotter marker separate on the map.
Turn one bearing into a target fix
One bearing defines a line, not a unique target point. Combine it with a second bearing, a measured range circle, fresh reconnaissance, or another valid report before committing to a firing solution.
