Why position matters after a reposition
Repositioning changes your firing origin. A target location may still be valid, but range and bearing from the Nest can change immediately. Reusing an old firing solution after movement can therefore create a large miss even when the target marker itself is correct.
Re-establish the current Nest reference
Use the latest mission information that identifies or helps locate the Nest, then mark the current position on the tactical map before taking new measurements. Community discussion around reconnaissance and position reports shows that keeping the current origin clear is essential when the battlefield state has changed.
- Do not keep using a pre-movement Nest marker as the firing origin.
- Preserve target and spotter markers separately from the Nest marker.
- Measure range and firing bearing again from the current origin.
- Recalculate elevation after rebuilding the firing solution.
Connect position report to the firing workflow
Position recovery is not the end of the task. Once the current origin is marked, continue through range, charges, elevation and rotation. This is why Position Report, Reposition, Tactical Map and Firing Solution should be treated as one connected workflow rather than separate topics.
